A Guide To Finding The Right Twin Disc® and WPT Power® PTO Clutches For Your Application

Need help sizing a Twin Disc® or WPT Power PTO®? Do you find Twin Disc PTO Model Numbers confusing? The chart below will help you. Since many WPT Power components were designed to replace Twin Disc parts, knowing your Twin Disc information lets us find either OEM Twin Disc or WPT Power replacement parts that we find to be of the same or better quality, more readily available and more cost effective.  The first column “PTO Model Number” lists the common Twin Disc power takeoff model components that in practice reflect the number of clutch plates and clutch size (ex:  “SP111” has one eleven inch disc while the SP211 has two eleven inch friction discs).  In other words, Twin Disc PTO part numbers are based on the physical size of the PTO and its internal components.

The first digit in the alphanumerical Twin Disc model number is the number of clutch plates. The next two digits of the Twin Disc model number is the general friction disc size in inches (i.e. an “eleven” inch disc actually measures 11.5″ from tooth groove to opposite tooth groove, but it is generally referred to as an “eleven inch disc”). Putting this together, a Twin Disc Model C106SP is a single plate, 6″ clutch. The next column lists the available power takeoffs by SAE bell housing sizes. To continue our example, a Twin Disc Model C106HP5 has an SAE #5 housing. If you are rusty on SAE housing dimensions, take a look at our Tech Tip #41, SAE Bell Housings Made Easy!. The next column lists the maximum torque capacity that a particular clutch size will handle. The next two columns refer to SAE duty classifications for PTOs, and the last column gives the weight.  Of course, if you need additional help deciphering your PTO numbers, see Tech Tip #93: What Do I Need To Find The Right Parts For My PTO Clutch?
