Replacement turbocharger (aftermarket) for Deutz TD2.9L4 engines. Replaces Deutz part number: 04134936
Turbochargers themselves don’t tend to fail unless their failure is caused by other issues in the engine. Some common reasons for failure we see are:
- Lack of lubrication – which might be caused by low oil or restriction in the oil feed line;
- Dirt inhalation or “Dusting” – which might be caused by a damaged air filter, torn boot, etc.. letting dirt and dust damage the turbo fan;
- Excessive heat- which might be caused by fuel supply issues where excess fuel is being supplied and then burned in the exhaust instead of the cylinder causing turbo to heat up much more than typical; and
- Insufficient engine warm up and/or cool down run time before shutoff which causes the turbo to be subjected to more dramatic temperature swings. A couple minutes warm up and cool down helps minimize failures & downtime, improves engine longevity and is a great time to form the habit of checking over your equipment while you wait.
Please try to evaluate why your turbo failed before replacing it so you don’t end up in the same place again and if you have any questions or want help trying to figure out what might have gone wrong, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Note: All turbos require pre-lubrication with engine oil prior to installation so the bearings are coated with oil on initial startup.
