Cylinder head bolts for the 912 and 913 series engines are “Torque-To-Yield” bolts so, when installed according to specs, the bolts are intended to stretch to provide a more precise and consistent holding force. Given this design, they can not be reused repeatedly and Deutz’ recommendation is to replace and not reuse the bolts if their length is 212.5mm or longer (218.5mm in the sole case of the BF6L913C).
