O-Ring Installation Equipment & Systems

Perkins/Westerbeke Engines. While no longer available as a new engine, the Perkins 4107/8 (also known as the Westerbeke 40) marine engine has been around for almost 40 years in various configurations. Seemingly all 4107/8s have a chronic rear main seal leaking problem. The larger Perkins 85 HP 4236 while not as old, also have a few seasons on them. Both model Perkins engines are due for a full overhaul. Foley can help. Here are some options for you.

Factory Remanufactured Exchange Engines

These exchange engines are ideal for someone who wants a quality engine they can depend upon with a robust one year warranty. We stock and have ready ship factory remanufactured Perkins 4107/8 and Perkins 4236 base engines. These Perkins base engines are complete with most accessories including the fuel system and fresh water pump but are less the electrics and marine coolers. These you can test and re-install. These Perkins marine engines contain all new genuine Perkins OEM parts, have been dynamometer tested and have a one year warranty.

To cure the chronic rear seal leaking problem on the 4107/8s and Westerbeke 40s we install our own innovative new rear seal. This Teflon coated, braided nylon rear seal replaces the old white cotton OEM rear seal and stops all leaks. To help you with the break in period we supply free of charge a Perkins Diesel Workshop Manual, a year’s supply of genuine Perkins OEM oil and fuel filters, and various Tech Tips on engine installation and maintenance.

The engines are finished in Perkin blue marine paint, shrink wrapped, and then bolted to a custom made engine stand. Over the last 90 years and especially since Israel’s 6 Day War in the mid-60s when we emergency shipped pallet loads of Continental G193 industrial engines, we have developed an extensive knowledge base for international shipping. For example, we recently shipped a remanufactured Perkins 4108 to Panama and learned more about the dimensions of a 727 cargo door than even Boeing knew!

Rebuild Parts. Want to do it yourself?

Foley can help! We stock complete engine parts kits to rebuild your 4107/8 engine. These kits are very complete and besides the usual parts, have the correct marine piston (there is a difference), the innovative rear seal we developed, a free Workshop Manual, a can of Perkins blue spray paint, etc. For the 4107 we even stock the correct wet liner! Not only do we have the most complete engine overhaul parts kits on the market, we also stock the rest of the parts you will need. Parts like remanufactured 4107/8 heads. Unfortunately, many Perkins 4108 heads crack. This is ideal for someone on a budget who doesn’t want to run around picking up parts (and maybe even having to return wrong ones) from four different suppliers. Foley can price out for you right to the penny the total parts cost of your Perkins marine engine overhaul: engine overhaul parts kit, cylinder head and fuel injection system.

Speaking of fuel systems, our remanufactured exchange fuel injection pumps and injectors are the way to go. You get one fixed, up front price and same day shipment. Compare this to sending your fuel system out to be rebuilt locally. It usually takes longer than expected and no one will know the final price until the pump is opened up. If you are like most people, this will make you very uncomfortable.

If your crankshaft needs welding or even just regrinding, you should consider one our crankshafts. Perkins crankshafts are sub-surfaced hardened. Having your crankshaft reground by the local rebuilder will grind away this nitride hardening. Welding and regrinding may leave your crankshaft will all the strength of a wet noodle. A resulting crankshaft failure can put a hole in your engine block. This is not a good thing. To help you we stock both new and remanufactured Perkins crankshafts. Good prices too. Brand new, not reground, Perkins diesel 4236 crankshafts are as low as $695.
