Customers frequently call looking for a new turbo blanket or heat shield. These devices keep the heat in the turbo for faster exhaust gas velocity. Unfortunately, due to asbestos legislation, Perkins no longer offers these. As a result we have referred people to performance magazines like Car Craft to check the ads for "header wrap" to make a substitute. This involves wrapping a 2" wide tape around the turbo and holding it in place with steel ties. While not as neat as the real thing, this works well enough.

For those that want to do a better job, we have recently come across a supplier who will make a universal turbo blanket for us. While not cheap (roughly $150) it will look neater, hold more heat in, and last longer than header tape. Call us for more details.
