Bucknell University had a smelly, noisey 500 KW Caterpillar generator dumping harmful exhaust air into their Computer Center every month during the generator's maintenance checks. The university administration asked us to solve the problem. Foley came up with an innovative solution. We developed a combined approach utilizing an diesel exhaust purifier and a Walker Air Sep system. To clean up the unburned diesel fuel in the generator housing and in the air around the generator as well as to minimize the smell, we provided them with a Walker Airsep system. This installed on the air intake just before the air cleaner and recycled the unburned fuel back into the oil pan so clouds of diesel fuel weren't hanging in the air outside the engine.
We then cleaned up the exhaust emissons with an exhaust scrubber/purifier that installed at the end of the engine's tail pipe. This combined approach resolved the problem and contributed to the greening of the campus.
